Zipper too Long? Not a problem

Posted by Betsy on

I used to spend a lot of time searching for the perfect zipper length for my project. I would either scour the local chain stores or wait for a zipper to be cut to the perfect length. Nowadays I make a lot of samples and garments. Black and blue are my go to colors so I buy handfuls of 6″ black and blue zippers in both invisible and regular length. Now that I have been making lots of pants I need shorter zippers. I am not making a special trip to the store. Instead I use the 6″ for the fly front and sew the waistband right over the top of whatever excess remains. This seam creates an automatic zipper stop and there is no worry about accidentally hitting a metal zipper stop with your needle. Just trim away the excess length left in the waistband and you are good to go. SBCC Patterns Zipper too Long
